Market Rules
The Launceston Esk Market is operated by the Royal National Agricultural & Pastoral Society of Tasmania Limited (RNAPS).
All bookings for Market space are to be directed to the RNAPS Administration Office at the Launceston Showgrounds or by phoning 6331 6044 during office hours (an answering machine operates if office staff are not available.)
LAUNCESTON ESK MARKET RULES
GENERAL RULES
• All stall holders are required to complete a Site Registration Form.
• One way vehicular traffic in designated areas within the market
• No vehicles in the market areas after 8.30am or before 2pm
• No heaters or high electrical usage items
• Stall holders must be ready to start trading at 9am and remain trading until market is finished at 2pm.
• Stall holders must not do anything within their stall that causes discomfort/shielding/access of any neighbouring stalls or encroach on any neighbouring stall space.
• There are only to be two hot food outlets and two fruit and vegetable stalls in the Cattle pavilion part of the market.
• Food and confectionary vendors are required to utilize facilities that meet Launceston City Council Health Standards. Any food or confectionary outlet must be in possession of a current Food Outlet Licence issued by the Launceston City Council and must observe all regulations.
• Members of RNAPS receive a discount on a second stall if they have one. Third and subsequent stalls pay full price.
• RNAPS is not liable for any loss or damage to any stall or product.
• Every endeavour will be made to ensure that similar type stalls are not placed together.
• The market is open 9am to 4pm Tuesdays and Fridays for stall holders to attend to their stalls. Access at other times may be granted by prior arrangement with the RNAPS office.
• Stalls must be maintained in a clean and tidy manner. RNAPS is responsible for cleaning walkways and outside areas.
• Stall holders moving sites or leaving the market must have their current sites cleared of all items by 11am the following Tuesday morning.
• Smoking is prohibited within the buildings and within three metres of any doorway.
• Offensive language or behaviour will not be tolerated.
• The Market Committee reserves the right to require stallholders to change sites within the Market.
• Doors will remain open at the discretion of the Committee. Doors may be closed in instances of adverse weather and to help direct the flow of pedestrian traffic throughout the Market.
ABSENTEE RULES
In the interest of public image it is essential to maintain a good consistent atmosphere, therefore all permanent stall holders are required to trade every Sunday. If however, the permanent stallholder will be absent, arrangements should be made to have someone else run the stall on their behalf.
From Sunday 15 June 2008 full stall rates will apply at all times.
Certain dispensations may be granted for exceptional circumstances.
If any stall is left unattended for more than 3 weeks, RNAPS may pack up and secure all goods contained therein until all monies owing are paid and may re-let the site.
When stall is empty, provided that the stall-holder has advised the RNAPS Administration Office before the weekend, no rent is payable.
If the stall is empty and no such advice has been received, the rental detailed above is payable.
RNAPS may re-let spaces that are empty.
MARKET COMMITTEE
The Board of Directors of the Society has established a Market Committee.
The Committee shall consist of 5 members appointed by the Board.
The role of this Committee is;
• to oversee the Sunday operation of the Market
• to manage minor issues
• to make recommendations relating to the operations of the Market
ADVERTISING
All stall holders will pay a $2 levy for television advertising and any other advertising that the Committee may decide upon.
DISPUTES/COMPLAINTS
Minor disputes and complaints may be referred to a Committee Member.
